After hearing about this place, i'd like to experience it for myself. The wait was long considering there's not a lot of people waiting. After being seated, it took a while for the server to get to us. As I look around, I noticed that some people that have been sitting for a while have not gotten their food. If I was by myself I probably would wait to get the full experience of Flap Jacks. Since I was with family members, everybody is getting hungry and the long wait was not giving this place any justice.

We've been waiting a long time to get seated and even a longer wait to get our food. Got here about 10:15, got seated wrong because we were a party of 5 and we weren't the right party of 5 they fixed the table for. So waited another 10 minutes to sit down. When we sat our table it was close to 11:00 (10:50). Now it's 11:39 our waiter just told us that they are working on our food. When all is done, we'll probably spend close to 2 hours after we finish eating. And not to mention that the kids have been really really really hungry!!!

My family decided to stop at this little spot last Sunday on our way to hike the Pinnacles. There were six of us and I will admit that the place was packed. We thought that might mean that it was a great place to stop. The low rating is mostly for lack of service. When we walked in they said that they just needed to clear a table and to wait a minute. They didn't specify where we should wait and when we waited in the hallway they told us we were in the way. Our party was seated shortly after that by a surly hostess and our drink orders were taken. About ten minutes later, our server took our orders and cautioned that our food might be a little slow in coming out. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. The server neglected to stop by our table and check on us again and our coffees didn't get refilled. My mom actually asked a server walking by how much longer it would be and he just shrugged and said he didn't know. We waited a while longer and then my mom actually got up to find and ask someone. Again, they said they didn't know. We waited a full hour before our server came back and let us know that the kitchen was finally starting to make our food. If I hadn't been there with my parents, I would have just left. There is no excuse for making us wait at the table that long without even a check in. The food itself was okay, but not memorable. Our coffee was weak and and the portions were average. Next time we head out that way, we'll pack our lunch!

On our way into Pinnacles National Park, we stopped at Flapjacks for breakfast. Everything about our visit was perfect! The service was great, food was delicious, and they even turned my son's leftover corned beef hash into a burrito for him to take on the trail. We'll definitely stop again on our next trip into the park.

Friendly service with great fresh food. Cute country, shabby chic decor inside and a beautiful patio outside. Dogs are welcome on the patio.

Great food when you get it! Waited over 20 mins for coffee then another forever wait to get a waiter. When he did arrive to take our order over an hr passed and still no food was busy outside I guess. Ended up leaving.

Don't expect the best hospitality, but DO expect the best food! As you walk In you get that I'm too busy for you attitude and the wait is pretty long but the food is awesome! I will be coming back and referring people here.

My husband and I go to Flapjacks regularly. We have always had good service, no problem having to wait and our food arrives promptly. Even when it has been crowded, we have had good experiences. The food is always exceptional--especially the Cinnamon French Toast made with sour dough bread.

I came here on a Sunday on the way back into town from a camping trip with my fiance. Yelp said that this place was close and good for brunch so we decided to give it a try. It was one in the afternoon and the hours said they closed at two. There were plenty of people seated outside eating as we walked up, but a fat lady rudely tells us that they're closing early because they got too busy earlier. What kind of service is that? Especially since it was an entire hour before closing and there were people sitting outside who just got their food. Sorry we're not good enough to eat there. I'd give them 0 stars if I could I can't get over how rude this lady was.

Had breakfast here the other day. The restaurant is decorated really nice in a country farm feel. The huge ceilings with the classy fans. I loved it. We got here around 9 and were seated right away. The menu is great. A little bit of everything. I had linguisa and my hubby had a country sausage meal and we split an order of spiced pancakes. I am not sure how they make the linguisa but it was sooooo good. It had this smokeyiness to it. It tasted just like my portugese aunt makes and I have no clue how they did it, but they did it right! My husband loved the biscuits and gravy over sausage. He said it tasted great. The spiced pumpkin pancakes were a little dry. It needed butter on them or something. We did try it with syrup and it was better. I would order it again but ask for butter because I do not want the maple flavor in my pumpkin. My husband thought it needed more pumpkin taste. On a side note, I would like to have had the option of having hashbrowns and not country potatoes. Oh! And they have great jams! We meet the owners who were so friendly. The husband is hilarious. He kept checking on us and making me laugh. He was very nice. The wife was very friendly too. I mentioned the bad reviews to her just to see how she would react and she did not react very well. Lol. I know some businesses think that yelpers have nothing to do but complain but they should truly appreciate why we yelp about food and that is that we appreciate truly good food and we are foodies. One we want others to know what we thought and two we want the business to see areas of improvement. We are not yelping to drag anyone down but to have our thoughts and opinion help others in the area and business see oppurtunities to improve. Anyways, we will be back. There are so many things on the menu that we would like to try. Don't let the negative reviews keep you from coming here. Look at how dated they are and try it for yourself. Our quest to try every restaurant in the Hollister area will continue!

We ordered the Tres-Pinos scramble, and and omelet. Those were tasty, but the flapjacks that came with the order were ok. Tasted like frozen flapjacks you buy at the store. Server was friendly, and service was fast.

We used to drive out here at least once every two weeks for breakfast on the weekend from Gilroy. Headed over there this last weekend, and it reminded me of why we quit going all the time. Since they did the move from the little cubbyhole spot to the new one. The service had continually gotten worse. We got here on the late side, about 1pm. There was only 1 group in front of us and with the rain nobody was at the outside tables. I figured that it would be better since it was late and only the indoor tables. Sad to say once we got seated it took about 10min to get coffee and about 15min to get our order taken. Had to ask 3 times for water (which tasted horrible) our had to ask to get more coffee when they empty. Now I had the Hunter's eggs with flapjacks which tasted great! The flapjacks were very good and country potatoes were good and crisp. The coffee was a bit strong, but not to bad. I would rate it higher because of the food. But the wait staff really needs some training and to speed it up. You shouldn't have to ask for refills on coffee or drinks. When your waiting 45min for your food. I'll give it another shot, on a day where I have at least an hour and a half.

My favorite breakfast place in the area! My boyfriend and I come here all the time for breakfast/brunch. I love their eggs Benedict, they always use thick cut ham, instead of cheap deli slices and their sauce isn't too overwhelming. Coffee is good and I always appreciate that they give you water with your meal. Seems standard but a lot of breakfast places around here won't give it unless you ask. Owners and staff are always super nice and love to have conversations with you. One of my regular places!

I really hated the menu more than anything... I hated its layout, choices of meals and dang..overpriced for what you got. I'll never come back. so i ended up with what i didn't want, which was a cheeseburger. Garlic fries wasn't cooked like they are suppose to be. The burger was very dry... I almost said, I didn't like it but i was nice. Its a three star place when you are lucky. If you give it five starts its because you know what order and its a specialty.

Food is great, have tried various breakfast items and all have been delicious; on weekends it gets busy and it's a small place so you might have to wait.

I have never given a 1 star review. Ever. And I told myself that I never would being that I own and run a restaurant.. 1 stars suck and no one likes getting them. Well.. This place flipping earned it! It was supposed to be a special breakfast (it still was) because my girlfriend and I got engaged a few days ago and we were celebrating with my family who lives in Hollister. Once we were seated it took someone 20 minutes to come up and take our order.. after that, another person had to come up and take our drink order. We then waited ONE HOUR to get our food.. It was obvious we weren't the only table waiting either. Tables all over the restaurant were looking around wondering where their meals were. The thing that stinks - is their food was REALLY good! But not worth the wait. I, nor any of my family, will most likely never go here again. The problem to me appears to be the kitchen. When i visited the restroom, I could clearly hear people in the kitchen yelling at each other. And it seems like their kitchen is not properly staffed to deal with the volume their getting.. Hopefully they can make some changes.. if they had their food coming out between 15 & 20 minutes, this place would be amazing.

On your way to Tres Pinos or if you happen to be in Hollister and don't mind driving another 10 miles or so....you just have to stopped by here. The workers are simply wonderful, friendly and very attentive and the food is great.

Stopped by here with some friends on our way to Paso Robles heading to Justin winery. The food was great and the service was very good. One thing that I really noticed was the men's bathroom was super super clean! A+ for that. I had the tres pinos scramble it was tasty and filling.

This place has great coffee and friendly service, but the food is amazing! I order the "make your own omelet" and whole wheat toast and I always end up stealing a few bites of my husbands flapjacks, they are so light and fluffy and just melt in your mouth! My husband and I have visited this place twice in the last three weeks and we hardly ever eat out, EVER! The absolute only reason for the 4 star review is the wait time, we went on a Sunday after church this last time, we will just remember to visit when it won't be as busy. This place is well worth the drive to Tres Pinos!

Argh. I don't get all the rave reviews here. To set the situation, we showed up here late, after 2 for lunch. Technically they were supposed to stay open until 3 but were already turning away people because they "ran out of food". However, they let us in because one member of our group had been sitting there for the past hour waiting for the rest of us to show up. So for a cafe that "ran out of food" they had no problems with anything we ordered. Funny that. But that's not my beef. I got the cup of chili. It was okay. Like glorified canned chili. They say they serve homemade soup - not sure if chili falls into that bucket but it was not very good. Also got the burger. Thought for over $10 we would be getting a pretty good burger. Imagine my disappointment when it was just a gray patty - like a cafeteria burger - slapped onto bread with cheese and bacon. I'm not being harsh. It was gray. And I could see the sharp 90deg angles on the edge of the patty. As soon as I bit into it I wanted to spit it out. Ugh. I'm paying premium prices for this! Never again! I'd rather eat packed sandwiches.

very good place to eat the flap jacks are the best in the area and all their meats are great service does get a little slow when its busy but that is to be expected with a place of this size

Since moving to Hollister we had yet to try a breakfast place in town. One Sat morning we decided to give Flapjacks a try. We got there around 1030 and picked outside seating. We got our drinks and menu. It took about 15 mins for our order to be taken and another 30-40 mins or so for our food to get to us. My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy platter and I ordered the eggs Benedict. The sauce was really light and runny, but other than that the food was decent. My husband like his biscuits and gravy. We would probably come back since there isn't a huge selection of breakfast restaurants. Only complaint was the service was so slow. The best breakfast place in my opinion is Los Gatos Cafe.

Very convenient spot to stop for a bite if you're blazing your way down Hwy 25 on a motorcycle. I have been past it many times and never checked it out, finally made a stop. They have a decent patio, again good for bikers. I'm giving it three stars, since the food was only OK. Iced Tea didn't taste good to me (maybe the local water, try filtering it?), and the crab louie salad had some kind of canned crab that wasn't quite what I expected. The rest of the salad was perfectly good though, the vegetables were fresh and tasty (don't expect anything less in this part of the world). My friend said his sausage sandwich was good. Looks like they might have a good breakfast maybe a good place to meet for an early morning run. I would definitely be willing to give it another shot.

Great food - bad service. I had the Hunter Egg scramble - it came with flapjacks and hash browns. Everything was delicious!! Granted we had a semi- large party of 10, but all our water glasses and coffee cups were empty for most of the morning. The servers seemed completely overwhelmed

Fantastic, feel good restaurant. We came here for breakfast on Sunday, and they were open early at 7am. The cook and our waitress (Karen) were truly friendly. The atmosphere is comfortable and family oriented, with a country design and some modern touches. Frank Sinatra classics played in the background,as my parents and I enjoyed our delicious breakfast, that could rival any home cooked meal. My deepest appreciation to all of the staff. Bravo.

We came here after a weekend of camping at Pinnacles National Monument and was on our way to Monterey. We decided to stop by for our BF, and i'd say this place was good. We ordered Chili Cheese Omelette, Karen's Crab Omelette and couple coffee. There were good and service was very friendly.

Wow I will never go to this restaurant again!! Horrible service! First of all it took 10-15 minutes just to have someone come over and take our order and that was after we got up from the table to flag someone down. The server didn't even get us our drinks. He said "Oh I will get someone else to get your drink order" The girl who finally came over to get us drink had been bussing tables and standing around. They seem to care more about bussing every single table first before greeting a table. And that would have seemed fine if it was busy but no one was coming in. Even a table who had sat next to us waited 15 minutes to be greeted. Anyways finally we got our order in but... It took almost 50 minutes to get our food. Once our food had arrive no one checked on us. I ordered the Crepes and they were very bland. They tasted like dry rolled up pancakes. Obviously this place has a problem with their kitchen staff. I read other reviews and it's true.. If you use the bathroom you can hear people in the kitchen yelling and cussing at each other. Very unpleasant!! I do not recommend this place at all. Take extra time to drive somewhere else unless you want to wait an hour for your food.

I debated whether to give a 4-star or a 3-star rating. Then I remembered the coffee, which is the worst I've ever tasted (and I spent 25 years in the military!!). Same thing with the iced tea. They must use the local water, which is also the worst I've ever tasted. I'm a Hollister native and despise the local water but the owners think the coffee is great, so maybe it's just me. Anyway...the pancakes and breakfast foods are good. Cute interior. Service can be slow depending on the crowd. All in all a decent place in a cute town.

I really enjoyed my eggs and short stack, the pancakes were big, golden brown, and fluffy! YUM! and my eggs were cooked to perfection!! My boyfriend ordered a fabulous plate of pancakes COVERED in fresh fruit!! It was a great breakfast but a little pricey!

Copy of E Sent to Flapjacks-- Hi: I am the guy who asked for a sandwich to go- to Pinnacles. I received a really great BLT with macaroni salad! It was the right price, size, and quality. A woman at a nearby picnic table at Pinnacles was eyeing it with envy while I finished it off. Thanks very much, Keith

Stopped here for a late lunch after a spirited motorcycle ride from Cambria along the 25. Ordered a tuna melt and a root beer freeze. Really hit the spot and the uber friendly family staff was wonderful. If I lived nearby I'd make it a regular stop...

I eat regularly at Flapjacks and am really happy that we have a great little family run cafe so close by. I only wish they were open for dinner as well. The portions are huge, I always have half leftover, and prices are very reasonable. Usually our weather is pretty nice and they have a great outdoor patio with covered tables. And they are very accomodating about taking umbrellas down if you want more sun. The servers, Duffy and Robert, are wonderful! If you do need to wait for a table they bring you drinks while you wait. If you're a regular they remember what you like and always get your order right. Great service makes a big difference! I always enjoy their eggs benedict with ham and I get a side of spinach with it. The potatoes are very good also. Another favorite is the breakfast burrito with chorizo. Its huge! The pigs in a blanket are also excellent. The sausage links are good size and cooked perfectly. For lunch I've also tried the French Dip but I added mushrooms and cheddar cheese and also the BLT. Both were very good. So check this place out, you'll see and hear both of the owners, Phil, cooking in the kitchen, and Karen working inside and out! Its a very busy place during peak hrs for good reason but Phil and Karen stay on top of everything!

After going here for years, I have finally realized that's it's only because there is no other option at that end of town. For me the food is OK. I tend to be a bit traditional in that for breakfast I want comfort foods such as good old hash browned potatoes and not the cooks interpretation. My real reason for leaving is the owner's (plural) attitudes. The husband (the cook) can be very loud and abusive towards his staff and the wife (waitress) can be very cold and down right rude to the customers. It comes down to when I go out and spend my money on a meal I want to feel good about the experience and I don't here. RB

Where do I start with this overturned chamber-pot? Being the only "bucolic" option outside of "Strip-Mallister" the winning owner-operator duo consisting of bellicose cook and matronly fishwife lend to this beanery all the charm and welcome of a mess hall. The snarling cook assails the children working for him at every turn making everyone uncomfortable and the frumpy, abrasive wife conducts all of the waiting so she can horde all of the gratuities (classy.) Her behavior was so comically unfriendly and at points hostile that our adjoining tables starting laughing in chorus. This isn't the French Laundry or Manresa, it's breakfast slop and pretty low grade at that. People traipse into little whistle stops like Tres Pinos for the escapism and the imagined.charm. Tres Pinos Inn is still outstanding with impeccable service and the 19th Hole is top drawer, but Flapjacks is a big belching reminder to wait until lunch and go to San Juan Bautista.

Comfy, clean, and bright restaurant, sortof a country cottage decor... I had high hopes. Unfortunately, the prices are very steep, and the food is just so-so. My eggs tasted great, but the home fries were limp and lackluster. The flapjacks never made it to the table until I finally asked for them five minutes before leaving. They had no color and were swimming in a pool of butter which I had to blot off with my napkin. The coke was flat and tasted watered down. The waiter couldn't remember who's food went to whom, even though we were the only patrons in the dining area DUH! The owner and his wife kept popping over and talking our ears off. The owner's wife found it necessary to give my friend unsolicited advise about raising her baby (weird), and the owner could be heard yelling at his cooks intermitantly. Not exactly the type of place I will be going back to.

Our sassy waitress, Karen, cracked us up and took care of us in fine fashion. Breakfast was served in deliciously record time. Best thing on the table was the huevos rancheros. Next rime will check out the gluten free cakes and bread.

I came to Flapjacks for the first time a couple of months ago. We were on our way to hike the Pinnacles so I wasn't worried about eating too many carbs. I had the best veggie omelette I've ever had in my life and had pancakes too. Ok, I had the hash browns too. Hey, I was fueling up for a grueling hike! The food was delicious! The restaurant has a nice ambiance and good service. We were there early on a Sunday morning, about 8am. There was no waiting. The hike was great too! Saw some giant condors at the Pinnacles. Breakfast at Flapjacks was the perfect way to start the day!

I ate here for lunch once on my way to Pinnacles, recall having a nice lunch. Kept it in mind for another trip to Pinnacles with 4 year old son. After a night of camping and unable to cook over the fire (and no stove, my bad), this was the perfect place to eat upon leaving the campsite in the morning, to have a hearty meal. Probably one of the best breakfast burritos I've ever had, made with chorizo, and potatoes served on the side, not on the inside. They also served it with a huge steak knife. Can't wait to come back here with my husband next time we're in the Pinnacles area, and try some of the other items on the menu.

We came here after a weekend of camping at Pinnacles Natl Monument. The service was excellent and the prices were reasonable. The food is not earth shattering but I would recommend this place if you are coming back from Pinnacles since its right of the highway. The French Toast is excellent and the portions are rather large.

Great breakfast, good friendly service 9 am Sunday morning- no waiting. Would like option for real maple syrup as well as patty sausage. We love breakfast out and were not disappointed.Like someone else mentioned it can be pricey but worth the treat after a weekend of camping at Pinnacles. The full order of French toast is large and the big breakfast combo (I forget the name) came with 3 eggs and more meat than we could eat (bacon, ham, and sausage).

Had breakfast with a lgroup of friends this time. Everything was great and I think we covered the menu from your basic egg dishes to a pesto omelet and a crab one to all sorts of combinations. I'm adding to my previous review because there is a young man/busboy/helper that works there that needs to be applauded for his work! HE IS SERIOUSLY ONE OF THE BEST WORKERS I HAVE EVER SEEN AT ANY TYPE OF ESTABLISHMENT! I wish I would have gotten his name to give him a true shout-out (probably + or - 20 years old, blond hair, fair complexion). He was working the patio area and literally did it everything for all the tables. The waitress took people's orders and that was it except to process our bill. This guy hustled the entire time, in the direct sun that was building up quickly, and never seemed to slow down. I sure hope that the helpers get more than their fair share of the tips because he did all the work. What a worker!!! Nice to see but hope he's appreciated by his bosses.

This is a great place for starting your metabolism in the A.M.! They have very, very good breakfast items.... including my favorite fruit and nut pancakes (delicious pancakes with a freakin' farmer's market worth of fruit on them!). I have to take away one star. While the cook is amazing, I have seen him get very angry with the employees and with customers who have kids. Not nice! BUT, the food is great and well worth the visit to Tres Pinos, CA!

Cholesterol never tasted so good! As it was our first time, we asked our waiter what we must not miss out on; his description was elaborate and passionate, and it was obvious there was some unexpected professional "chefary" going on back in the kitchen of this family-run restaurant. After much deliberation and an assessment of our gastronomical capacities, we settled on four dishes (there were two of us): Steak and local farm-fresh over-medium eggs, flapjacks with a boatload of fruit, corned-beef hash with some more of those local eggs, and flapjacks drowned in a banana-walnut faux-flambe caramelized sauce. All items were exceptional and more than met our expectations, which were set high by our exuberant server. We plan to come back soon so that we can try the rest of the "must have" items. A side note: they have an outdoor patio that is dog friendly. I'll be sure to bring my Morkie as soon as the weather warms up!

I am a Hollister local and have been to this business 6 times. I have ordered breakfast all of those times and loved the food very much. I have absolutely no qualms about the food. However, the service is a bit on the disappointing side. I highly suspect that this is a family owned business and that has a factor in the slightly lower quality of service. I say this because the wife/mother/owner lady is pretty rude and has a "what do you want" attitude when asking for your order. The son has a similar attitude in my experiences. On one occasion I over heard the husband/wife owners having a personal argument about something and it got a little heated which made for an uncomfortable atmosphere for the customers. It was rather awkward. Wait times can be a bit lengthily. My three star rating is based on the food only. If there was a section for service, friendliness, and welcoming atmosphere I'd give it a zero star or negative star.

Flapjack's has the best breakfast in San Benito Co. PERIOD!! The portions are big and reasonably priced. The cafe is small and rustic but then again what isn't in Tres Pinos. A great great way to start you day especially if you are on your way to Pinnacles National Park, Hollsiter Hills or a kick ass motorcycle ride on Hwy 25.

This is the first review I have ever written. My wife and I have stopped at this restaurant several times and it was pretty good. I spent $13.95 for a "cheese steak sandwich" which arrived looking like they were serving the trimmed portions of the 'real' steaks they served. Literally, more than half the meat was fat, so much so that I asked for an extra plate. When I showed the plate to the owner she said 1) she liked fat (!) and 2) that is what she could get (from her supplier). MAN OH MAN!!! This place is in the middle of cattle country. I am with Jean K, there is nothing good to say about this place. If this small business goes under, it will be by their own hand.

We came here the day after Thanksgiving. We waited a little while for our order to be taken but other than that the service and food were good. I had the side order of the apple walnut pancakes and they were SO GOOD. The others in my party go the mini breakfast with flapjacks. The portions are huge and the coffee is ENORMOUS. We'll definitely be back.

Stopped here for breakfast before a hike up in Pinnacles and loved it. We felt welcome and right at home as soon as we stepped out of the car. I ordered the short stack of flapjacks and they are a hearty portion. I also got the biscuits and gravy, not the best gravy, but I can be picky. My girlfriend ordered the Blackstone, which came with smoked salmon, was very tasty.

Sunday morning I decided I needed nutrition in the form of breakfast. It was a beautiful morning so I drove on out to 6881 Airline Highway to give Flap Jack's a chance to make Melissa Good Taste happy. As we walked in the little country cafe was bustling. Full of people, young and old. The building was very clean and put together nicely. It seemed like the tables were arranged just right to fit the maximum amount of people without it feeling too crowded. I remember when Flap Jack's was originally in the little space connected to the Tres pinos Store. They have definetly upgraded by moving into this building. That little space is going to become a pizza place is what I hear! Tres Pinos is going to get their pizza and eat it too! Hooray! Just a warning, bring your glasses to read the menu! There are so many options, there are lots of varieties of things to chose from. From Breakfast Quesadilla's to Karen's Crab Omelette, the possibilities are endless. Anyhow, Robert ordered the Crepejack's with fresh fruit, with extra crispy bacon on the side. First off the crepes came cold and a little too thick. They are supposed to light and airy... they were quite thick. The filling of a crepe, in this case fresh fruit, is usually supposed to be inside the rolled crepe rather than arranged on top. And that side of bacon never came. Bummer. I ordered Two eggs over medium and a side of extra crispy bacon, it included home-style potatoes that I requested to be extra crispy as well. Neither happened. The bacon was chewy, which I dislike... The potato, onion, bell pepper mixture came underdone as well. The onions and bell pepper were raw, with a kiss of char from the flat top. All in all, the breakfast was not a total failure. There was a cute, little coffee boy who came by frequently asking us if we needed a refill, that was nice. The waiter was friendly but obviously couldn't deliver the message of what we wanted. That was a bummer because breakfast is usually a pretty easy meal to impress me. I give it 1.25 thumbs up for a clean, friendly establishment. Maybe lunch will be better... I will check that out, sit on their beautiful patio and get back to you on that. I had a lunch there over the summer that was very tasty and sitting on the patio in the warm sunlight is delightful.

We took my mom here for mother's day & we all loved it! There was a bit of a wait, but we had made reservations (good thing!). The food was very tasty and we were all happy with the portions. The actual sitting place is a small area, which may explain the long wait. Servers are nice and prompt on the drinks. I'd go back!

Awesome. Majestic. I had the Pigs in Blankets- sausages wrapped in big fluffy buttermilk pancakes. I didn't even care that the syrup was Log Cabin...well, I did care, but not really. Sitting outside drinking bottomless coffee out of a giant styrofoam cup - I didn't care about that either, not really.

Was there yesterday. Great food, service was wonderful and everybody greeted you with a smile. Had the Veggie Scramble and my husband had the Cinnamon French Toast. Excellent! Will be our new "go to" place.

I ate breakfast today with my girlfriend at flapjacks this morning i had the amazing french toast topped with bananas and strawberries with powdered sugar with a side of eggs and delicious bacon. Hands down this is the place to grab some great breakfast. They gave superior service ! I recommend flapjacks. We will be returning .....

First time, Last time Went for breakfast this morning, not too crowded seated right away service was good it is the food that is the problem. I ordered sausage, eggs, hash browns and a biscuit with gravy, they were out of hash browns so they gave me home fries which were just cut up frozen French fries deep fried, no onions or peppers. I ordered over easy eggs that came hard, the sausage was ok, the biscuit was dry and the gravy was ice cold and flavorless. my son ordered eggs benedict which was two fried eggs covered in watery hollandaise sauce, same crappy potatoes. all of this overcooked flavorless crap for a whopping 28 bucks!!!! NEVER AGAIN

New owner, freshly painted with some small changes, though the menu appears to be about the same. Been here three times since reopening, and all meals have been very good, service friendly, coffee is hot and tasty. I think they should do well!

Super delicious and a hidden gem in Hollister/Tres Pinos! :). I live out of town and can't find any breakfast place like this where I live, so we make a special effort to stop in. Staff is very attentive, and their menu is huge! You will never leave hungry at Flapjacks, large portions and big variety. They even offer gluten free flapjacks! A little something for everyone. Outdoor seating is available, which I love because i like to bring my dog. My favorites are the banana walnut pancakes or the eggs Blackstone Benedict with fresh salmon. Can't go wrong with this family run breakfast joint, it does get busy on the weekends, but that's to be expected since it's so yummy :).

Sad to say the service was so slow it warranted a bad review. The wait staff was pleasant but not quick with the coffee refill. The food came out 1 hour after being seated. When we received our food the order was incorrect and when we mentioned that it was not what we ordered we were told sorry we ran out. Substituting is fine but a little communication goes a long way like hey no more hash browns you are going to get home fries. Also received ham instead of bacon in the omelet. At this point there was another table who just strait left after waiting longer than us. Food was great if they can figure out how to be more efficient I would go back.

We ate breakfast twice there last week, 5 of us and we were all really happy with our food and service. I wasn't aware that it was new ownership but it looks like not too much has changed as far as the menu. I miss seeing Karen and Phil, although we only get to this area maybe twice a year. The portions were large enough so we split the omelets between two of us and still had plenty.

Waited 45minutrs for our breakfast which never showed up. They had the nerve to charge us for our ice tea when we left. Waitress was rude and no one paid attention to us. Small town service at its worst because they didn't care apologize if pay attention to us.

The worst service my bf and I have ever received in our lives. We ended up walking out, that is how bad it was. If you have to wait 20 mins at a table and watch people that have been seating after you being served there food, don't expect your customer's to stay or write anything good about your customer service skills. People are lazy this day in age and seem to want everything handed to them. Servers receive good tips because they are good servers. the same goes for Business owners, be a good owner and you will make good money! We spotted Cozy Cup Cafe on 4th Street in Hollister, CA on the way home which ended up being the greatest experience and breakfast we've had to this day! I guess I can say thank you for the horrible service Flapjacks or we wouldn't have found Cozy Cup Cafe!

Food Great-Service Terrible!! The food is great but the service time was terrible. We waited for our food 1 hr and 20 minutes. Not once did the waitress tell us what was going on!!! The waitress as it turns out was owner and they had one of the cooks quit. The food is great ,but the service is terrible. Plus the version of Crepes is a fold large pancake. Also, The waitress told me that "Strawberries were not in season" and the table next to us just got served Strawberries! The have no customer service at all.!!! If you have all day-stop by and wait for one hour and a half!!!

Came here at 10:30 with 1 family in front of my girlfriend and I. Sitting at the table now, 12:20, and still haven't receive our food. Even if the food is good (which it does smell good), it wouldn't be worth the wait (it is just standard breakfast food, we're not talking fine dining). Extra 1 star because they allow dogs outside (however, no water bowls). I most likely won't return.

Service is very very slow. We have been waiting 2.5 hours for our food. We ordered breakfast and it's now 1pm, lunch time. Two tables who were seated after us have gotten their food before us.

Flapjacks was owned and operated by Chef Phil and his wife for so many years. On Saturday August 15, 2015 we drove from Gilroy to see them and enjoy their wonderful food. Much to our surprise they were recently sold to someone else. OMG what a disappointment. The service and food was terrible. Watched many plates being cleared from tables and there was a lot of food left on them, as well as my and my husband's plate. Trust me don't stop there. My husband and myself said if Chef Phil experienced this he would come unglued. If you see a lot of cars in the parking lot, don't be fooled. It's only that people don't realize that it has been sold. Time will show less cars and you know what that means, "don't eat there". We miss our old owners and we will not be going back to Flapjacks.

I had the french toast. I was good, but some of the bread didn't get any batter on it. I prefer thicker slices of bread, too. The pancakes were great!! However, be aware, if you oder crepes, they are not true crepes. It seems to be the pancake batter spread thinner. Crepes should be less fluffy and more dense a almost chewy. Get there early or you'll be waiting on weekends

Horrible service and horrible food. Woman who is also an owner was very very arrogant to me. My pancakes came out a little burnt so I kindly asked her to remake my pancakes.her answer was "it's just a little burnt no need to remake; you wouldn't remake them if u were home". This is not a customer service. The place is overpriced too. Never coming back. They also let u bring your own alcohol, I don't know if they even have a license for that.

Hmm...I'm quite shocked by all the 1-star reviews. Our experience at Flapjacks was exceptional if not perfect. We were on our way to Pinnacles and wanted to eat before our day of hiking. The highway led us to Downtown Tres Pinos, a small strip of stores and restaurants. Flapjacks seemed to be one of the few places open. The café was charming. Cozy and bright. Nik-naks and historical photographs of the town scattered along the walls. The staff was pleasant. We were greeted. Throughout our meal, I think all the staff members served us in one way or another. One brought our beverage; another took our order; another brought our food; another brought our check, etc. Food: To our surprise, this café in a small town has an extensive and contemporary menu. I was a bit overwhelmed, but it was not long before something caught my eye. Cinnamon French Toast Sandwich ( yelp.com/biz_photos/flap… ): 2 eggs with bacon, ham or sausage patty between 2 pieces of French toast. The sandwich was massive. Overall, it was savory with a slight sweetness from the cinnamon and powdered sugar. One can add maple syrup to their liking. The thin French toast provided a good balance of bread, egg and sausage in every bite. Hearty and delicious! Original Country Classic ( yelp.com/biz_photos/flap… ): 2 eggs with bacon, ham or sausage served with home fries and flapjacks or toast. Also hearty and delicious! The bacon was perfectly crisped. The eggs were perfectly sunny-sided. The home fries were so good! Delectable food: Generous portions. No complaints at all. Prompt service: Food came within 10 minutes. Pleasant staff: Servers were quite attentive. Reasonable price: Both items under $10. What's not to love?

Ate there this morning. Busy, but got seated in about 20 minutes and food came out in 20 more. Menu reduced to a single page and many items no longer available, like the flapjack sandwich. Someone mentioned the restaurant has been sold and new owners taking over soon. So will see what changes are in store for this restaurant.

I love this cute little country restaurant. The food is fantastic and the service especially from the gentleman who owns the place is amazing.

No food is worth the terrible service provided by the rude woman who works there. I've never been treated worse at any other restaurant. You would think that in a tiny town the customer service would be impeccable.

So so much better with the old negativity out of the building. It was very crowded but did not have an excessive wait.

I went to Flapjacks last week despite hearing some people criticize the new manager. Food was great, I licked my plate clean! Honestly, one of the better breakfast places in the area and they have an excellent menu.

Went there after being out of the area for a year. The bacon was okay, but a little greasy and not all was crisp. Last year it was best bacon I'd ever had--all 3 visits. Also served avacado that had brown areas and country potatoes were not prepared fresh in the kitchen. Breakfast burito was excellent.
